Paul Damian, PhD

Paul Damian holds a Ph.D. and M.P.H. and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) as well as a European Registered Toxicologist (ERT). He is the founder and principal of Damian Applied Toxicology, LLC, a scientific consulting firm based in Sacramento, California that focuses on evaluating health and ecological risks associated with chemical exposures across environmental, occupational, food, and consumer product contexts.

His consulting work spans a broad range of applied toxicology matters, including hazardous waste site risk assessments, vapor intrusion and indoor air quality evaluations, drug-induced liver toxicity, drug impurity risk assessment, and the safety of food ingredients, cosmetics, and nutritional supplements. He has participated in GRAS expert panels and applies computational methods such as QSAR and read-across approaches to predictive toxicology. His litigation-related work includes expert witness services, forensic toxicology report review, and support for veterans' disability claims arising from chemical exposure.

One publication attributable to him in the peer-reviewed literature addresses the development of a health risk-based surface contamination cleanup standard for occupational exposure to beryllium, published in Toxicology Mechanisms and Methods. He reports approximately four decades of experience evaluating chemical risks to human health and the environment.
