Medical Witness Finder exists to solve a problem that costs attorneys time and costs qualified experts opportunity: the right medical expert and the right case rarely find each other quickly. We built a rigorously vetted, easy-to-use directory that connects litigators with credible, courtroom-ready experts across dozens of medical and behavioral health specialties - without the inflated pay-to-play fees that dominate the rest of the market.

Profiles are structured to help legal teams evaluate whether an expert is likely to fit the medical issue, venue, and timeline of a case. Where available, listings include specialty, location, clinical background, prior testimony indicators, and contact pathways for requesting a CV or shortlist.

Meet the Founder: John Puls, LCSW, MCAP

Medical Witness Finder was founded by John Puls, a licensed psychotherapist, Master’s-level Certified Addiction Professional, licensed clinical social worker, and adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University. While clinical psychotherapy remains his core passion, John developed a parallel calling supporting law firms in addiction and mental health–related litigation.

As a qualified expert witness, John brings over a decade of experience in addiction treatment to more than 40 civil and criminal matters. His work spans the full arc of a case: file review, standard-of-care analysis, written opinions, deposition, and trial testimony, and he is equally comfortable supporting plaintiff and defense counsel.

John has been retained as an expert witness in a wide range of civil and criminal matters, including:

• Suicide, overdose, and alleged breaches of the standard of care in addiction and mental health treatment facilities
• Alleged sexual assault within addiction and mental health treatment programs
• Standard-of-care matters involving Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs)
• Marchman Act proceedings, on behalf of both petitioner and respondent
• Baker Act matters involving involuntary psychiatric evaluations
• Dram shop liability cases, including the complex “habitual addiction” exception under Florida law
• Personal injury claims involving mental health or substance use

How Medical Witness Finder Began

John built Medical Witness Finder out of his own frustration on both sides of the equation. Getting connected with attorneys who needed an expert with his exact background was harder than it should have been (and he was never looking to become a full-time expert witness). Pay-per-lead models were expensive, and the directories that existed were strictly pay-to-play, with little vetting behind the listings.

At the same time, colleagues kept telling him they wanted to do expert work but had no idea how or where to start. Medical Witness Finder was created to close that gap: a highly vetted, genuinely easy-to-use platform that connects the best experts in their fields with the high-stakes cases that need them.
