Daniel Monlux
About
Daniel Monlux, MD, is a family medicine and aerospace medicine physician based in San Diego, California, where he operates Wingman Med, a practice focused on FAA aviation medical examinations. Board certified in both specialties, he serves as an FAA Senior Human Intervention Motivation Study (HIMS) Aviation Medical Examiner, a designation that qualifies him to work with pilots navigating complex certification issues, including substance-related aeromedical cases. He holds First, Second, and Third Class medical certification authority and offers color vision testing as part of his aviation medicine services. He is licensed in California, Virginia, Florida, and Alabama.
Dr. Monlux began his medical career in the U.S. Navy, where he accumulated more than 3,000 flight hours, including combat service flying the F/A-18. He holds commercial pilot credentials and has served as a certified flight instructor for more than two decades, giving him direct operational experience that informs his aeromedical work.
His peer-reviewed publications include work on color blindness and military fitness-for-duty standards, published in Military Medicine, and a piece on care transitions and automation in the Journal of Graduate Medical Education.
