Dr. Wayne S. Orr is a surgical oncologist based in Jackson, Mississippi, where he practices at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He holds appointments as an Associate Professor and Associate Director in the Department of Surgery and serves as a Division Chief within the School of Medicine. His clinical work spans a broad range of oncologic conditions, including cancers of the pancreas, liver, bile ducts, and gastrointestinal tract, as well as melanoma, sarcomas, and other skin cancers. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in surgery and surgical oncology and is licensed in Mississippi and Texas.

Dr. Orr completed his undergraduate training in chemistry at Delta State University and earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine. He then completed a general surgery residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, followed by a research fellowship at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and a complex general surgical oncology fellowship at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He joined the UMMC faculty in 2015.

His peer-reviewed work, published in journals including Cureus and The American Surgeon, covers topics such as robotic cytoreductive surgery with heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy, minimally invasive approaches to colon cancer, management of cutaneous melanoma, treatment of primary hyperparathyroidism, and multimodality therapy for osteosarcoma with oligometastatic recurrence.
