About
Steven M. Fendley is a board-certified general surgeon practicing at Wiregrass Surgical in Dothan, Alabama, where he has been a member of the practice since 1989. He holds board certification from the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His clinical work spans a broad range of general surgery, including bariatric surgery, hernia repair, gallbladder removal, colon resection, colonoscopy, surgical management of reflux and GERD, and surgical treatment of thyroid, breast, and colon cancers.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Fendley has been involved in the evolution of minimally invasive surgical techniques, moving from open to laparoscopic to robotic approaches. He serves as a site mentor for robotic surgery, providing instruction to other general surgeons learning the technique. A publication in Surgical Endoscopy on single-port-access cholecystectomy, drawn from a multi-institutional series of nearly 300 cases, reflects his engagement with advancing laparoscopic methods. He is licensed to practice in Alabama.
