Dr. Michael R. Koeppel is a researcher and practitioner whose work spans oncology supportive care, occupational health, and exercise science. His published scholarship addresses symptom burden and quality of life in patients with hematologic malignancies, including myeloproliferative neoplasms and multiple myeloma, as well as physical functioning and resistance training in cancer patients undergoing active treatment or preparing for stem cell transplantation.
A substantial portion of his research examines the health and occupational risks facing firefighters. His published work in this area includes studies on cancer-related behavioral risk factors among career and volunteer firefighters enrolled in large cohort studies, stress among recruit and incumbent women firefighters, and firefighter perceptions of COVID-19 mitigation strategies.
