About

Dr. Louisa N. Ferrara-Gonzalez is a neonatal therapist whose clinical and research work centers on the care of infants in the neonatal intensive care unit, with a particular focus on oral feeding development in preterm and medically fragile newborns. Her peer-reviewed research has appeared in Frontiers in Pediatrics, Nutrients, and the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition. Her publications include investigations into cold milk feeding as an intervention for preterm infants, a global survey of current NICU oral feeding practices, and a contributed response to the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition's 2022 position paper on preterm enteral nutrition, addressing issues specific to oral feeding during CPAP therapy.
