Dr. John T. Saxon is an interventional cardiologist at UVA Health in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he serves as Director of the Advanced Valve Center. His clinical focus centers on structural heart disease interventions, with particular emphasis on transcatheter approaches to valve disease involving the aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valves, as well as left atrial appendage occlusion and adult congenital heart disease interventions.
Dr. Saxon has contributed to over 275 peer-reviewed publications, with recent work appearing in JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions, Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, and the Journal of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. His published research addresses topics including transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement, valve-in-valve TAVR, mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair, and intracardiac echocardiography guidance for structural interventions. He has also participated in drafting Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions position statements. He serves as a site contact for active clinical trials in structural heart disease, including investigation of bicaval valve systems for severe tricuspid regurgitation at UVA's School of Medicine. He has presented at Medicine Grand Rounds at the University of Virginia on the treatment of mitral regurgitation and is licensed to practice in Virginia.
